Step by step
Below is exactly what you will see on the screen. You only set this up once, and the next time you need help you just give us the ID number and password.
-
Download the program
Click the button below. Your browser will save the file rustdesk-1.4.8-x86_64.exe to your Downloads folder. The file comes from our server and is about 23 MB in size.
Download RustDesk for Windows -
Run the downloaded file
Double-click the downloaded file. The program needs no installation: it simply opens, and you can delete it afterwards.
If a blue window appears with the message “Windows protected your PC”: click More info, and then Run anyway. This is a typical message for programs without a paid publisher certificate and does not mean a virus. -
Read your ID number and password
On the left side of the window, under Your Desktop, you will see your nine-digit ID, and below it your One-time Password. These are the two things you give us. Without them, no one can connect to your computer.
The password changes every time the program starts, so it cannot be used a second time.
-
Turn on full access
So that we can also click, not just watch, you need to change one setting once. Click these in order:
the three dots next to the ID Security Unlock security settings Permissions Full accessWindows may ask for administrator permission along the way: confirm by clicking Yes.
-
Call us and give us your ID and password
Call +48 887 831 588 and read out your ID number and password. A request to allow the connection will appear on your screen. Accept it, and from that moment you can see everything we do.
You can end the session with one click, whenever you like. Once the program is closed, connecting to your computer is no longer possible.
What exactly happens
Remote support means access to your computer, so it is worth knowing how it is secured. It is worth asking the same of anyone who asks you for that kind of access.
- The connection is end-to-end encrypted
- The connection requires an ID and password that you give us
- The password is single-use and changes every time the program starts
- You see the whole session on your own screen
- You can end the connection at any time with one click
- Once the program is closed, the connection cannot be resumed
Before the session, close any windows with data you do not want to show: online banking, private email, documents unrelated to the issue. It is a good habit with any remote access, whoever is asking for it.
Beware of scammers
The same technology is used by scammers who call pretending to be your bank, your internet provider or technical support, and ask you to install a program for remote access. The difference is simple:
- We never call asking for remote access. You call us
- We do not ask you to log in to online banking during a session
- We do not ask for SMS codes or bank account passwords
- We do not demand payment during a remote connection
- We never ask for access “for verification” or “to refund an overpayment”
If someone calls and asks for any of these things, hang up, whoever they claim to be. If you are not sure whether you are speaking to us, hang up and call the number shown on this page.
Frequently asked questions
For clients on an ongoing support plan, it is included in the subscription. For one-off requests, the cost depends on the time spent. We tell you what it is before the session starts.
No. The file runs without installation and you can delete it once the support session is over. If you use our support regularly, it is more convenient to keep it, because next time you only give us the ID and password.
We see exactly what is on the screen, just as if we were standing next to you. That is why it is worth closing windows with data unrelated to the issue before the session. Once the connection ends, we have no access to the computer at all.
RustDesk is open source, so anyone can check what the program does. The file you download from this page is stored on our own server, with no intermediaries along the way.
The program also works on those systems, but the download file is different. Call us and we will point you to the right version and guide you through starting it.
For some issues, yes. Sometimes a phone call or a screenshot sent by email is enough. Remote access is the fastest route when the problem needs to be seen.
Yes. We support computers, printers and systems regardless of where they came from. With ongoing cooperation, we usually tidy up the hardware and software along the way (see IT outsourcing).
Help straight away: call us
